Pitch's Picks

One thing that was excited to add to this site when football season started was betting advice/picks.

I just got into betting on the NFL for the first time last season - and I was hooked instantly. It took me years to get involved with it, but I certainly found out what all of the buzz was about. I won't claim to be any sort of handicapping genius, not even close. I did, however, end up positive at the end of the NFL season which is something most people can not say. (Basketball was a whole other story though...)

The first game this week is Thursday (one of my favorite new NFL traditions) and it's a decent match up with the Giants taking on the Redskins.

According to Bodoglife.com the Giants are favored by 4.5 points. And according to my own research this game is being played in New York. The Giants have been getting dumped on the entire off season, and many of the experts are picking them to finish last in the division. Somehow I just can't see this happening. At the very worst, the Giants will finish 8-8 and will be competing for a spot in the playoffs for the whole season.

The Redskins on the other had are a different story. No one knows what the new coach is going to do with them. And more importantly, no one knows what Jason Campbell is going to be able to do this season.

In the first week of the season all gamblers have to go on is off season buzz, and its been all bad for the Giants this season. For this reason I think they've been undervalued in this line. Take the sure thing with the Giants and give the points to the Redskins.

Pick: Giants (-4.5)
