Tim Duncan is Great!

The Suns/Spurs Game 1 was one of the best basketball games that I have seen all year. I don't particularly like either one of the teams involved, but I found myself rooting for the Spurs, in an attempt to anger my roommate. The back-and-forth nature of the game was enjoyable enough, but it was this play that truly made the game memorable...

Talk about one of the greatest shots in NBA history. Tim '0 for the season' Duncan spotting up for 3 to tie the game at the end of OT. It doesn't get any better than that. And I don't care what anyone says, that was a designed play. He may not have been the number one option on the play, but he was definitely part of the marker board draw-up.

I looked up Duncan's career stats and they're not good. He's 24-126 for his career for three pointers. (BTW, who would have ever have known that Duncan has attempted that many three-pointers in his career. The most astounding stat was his epic 2000-2001 season where he shot an amazing 27 three's!) But that is what makes Spurs coach Gregg Popovich the best coach in the league. Who do you want handling/shooting the ball at the end of OT? Your most clutch players of course...so why not give the ball to Ginobili and Duncan, two of the most clutch players alive.

NBA. Where Amazing Happens.

(Except when you have to suffer through the Atlanta Hawks playing on national TV in the playoffs with something like a 32-50 record.)
